‘Inspiring’ – I’ve had my feedback about my CIEP session!

About a month ago, I had the pleasure of not only attending my first CIEP annual conference but being one of the first speakers of the day! Was I nervous? Of course. Was I excited? No doubt. Am I still riding the high? Well, I certainly am now after I received the feedback from those who came along to my session.

As a former change manager, I’ve delivered many workshops and presentations over the years, but this one was special because I was sharing my business journey, my expertise, but also my personal story of starting an editorial consultancy after being diagnosed with ME/CFS (commonly referred to as ‘chronic fatigue syndrome’, even though I don’t particularly agree with it being called that – but that’s a whole other blog post). I hadn’t realised just how much I’ve missed delivering sessions like this, but as I got up there, my name on the screen, it all came rushing back! I hope I get more opportunities like this in the future; in fact, I’m planning on it!

Still, I digress, so getting back to the conference, here’s what my lovely attendees had to say:

  • ‘A confident, well-prepared presentation, with some useful ideas about how to create unique niche offerings.’

  • ‘Heather delivered the session really well. She was engaging and clear and I came away with action points for my own career.’

  • ‘A really impressive approach to her business, I loved the logical, structural approach, her ambition and her ability to identify a niche.’

  • ‘The speaker was very engaging and passionate about her topic. The content was enlightening and inspiring – she passed on a real sense of ambition which has stayed with me.’

  • ‘So very human and approachable as well as helpful.’

I didn’t expect to be speaking at a conference full of so many amazing, inspiring and experienced peers, but I’m so glad I took that chance and sent in a proposal. The conversations I had that day, and the conversations I’ve had since, have given me motivation to keep going with my business, my goals and my ambitions. I honestly feel like I learned more that day than I shared, and it makes me proud to know I got up there (perched on a stool, thank you to CFS), delivered a session complete with cat pictures, and was able to share my journey with such an incredible community of passionate professionals.

If you’re looking for a speaker to talk about finding your niche, drop me a line!

Heather
